16 U.S. Hospitals Offline Due to Ransomware Attack

On 1st of August, Prospect Medical Holdings discovered a ransomware in their national network system.  Since then, their computer systems have been offline and the medical staff in 16 hospitals (and 170 facilities) is not able to access to digital patient records.

Affected hospitals and facilities are located in California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania & Rhode Island.

In 2023, the U.S. health care system is constantly under pressure due to daily hacking attempts.  Over 150 cyber attacks in this year have forced some hospitals to prepare for analog data processing.

Due to to this ransomware attack, Eastern Connecticut Health Network, owned by PMH, issued a notice that the following services and locations will be closed until further notice:

Elective Surgery and GI Procedures

Outpatient Medical Imaging (M-F)
Evergreen and Tolland Imaging
Women’s Center

Outpatient Blood Draw

Urgent Care

Wound Center (M-F)
